Honest Magazine
Honest Magazine is a 100-page, quarterly print magazine on food and lifestyle with a focus on nature. Breaking the norm, the magazine is 100% advertising-free with everlasting content dedicated to honest storytelling. It is distributed in 59 natural food co-ops, grocery store chains, upscale boutiques, artisan cafes, and bookstores across the U.S. and Canada. My background in multimedia allows me to create rich, expressive imagery, enticing recipes, and thoughtful prose that inspires slowing down for a deeper look. The magazine aims to reconnect us to the way we once used our hands to gather wild foods, turn soil, and knead dough. Printed on thick stock, issues and themes are collected and treated as coffee table books.
In 3 years I wrote 188 articles, photographed 242 photoshoots, developed 288 recipes, 6 brand collaborations, and created 25 issues. Subscribers and followers showed high engagement. With an average 48.8% email open rate and 5.3% click rate, the most successful of 35 campaigns measured a 73.6% open rate and 11.9% click rate.
Honest Magazine was selected as a Tastemaker for PBS’s “Meet The Makers” event in Seattle, Washington. The magazine was a choice publication for the Warsaw Culinary Fair 2018 and in 2021 Mixam Printers featured Honest Magazine as their feature publication. Other partnerships and collaborations include Encyclopedia Botanica, Tom Douglas, and Ashley Rodriguez.
